Equipment - 4 bases, basketball, basketball goal

Grade Level - 4-8

Home plate is on the endline of the basketball court - under the basketball goal. 1st and 3rd bases are on each of the sideline at midcourt. 2nd base is on the opposite endline under the basketball goal.  Divide the class into 2 teams.  Number each player on each team from #1 through XX. The #1 player on the fielding team goes to home plate and picks up the basketball. The #1 player from the "batting" team stands at the free throw line facing home plate.  The "pitcher" throws the basketball anywhere in fair territory and runs around the bases - never stopping.  The fielding teams players field the basketball and pass it to their #1 player, who is standing on the free throw line. That player shoots. If s/he misses, the rest of the shots can be taken from anywhere on the court, but only the #1 player can shoot.  If the shot is made before the runner gets back to home plate, the runner is out.  If the runner makes it back to home plate before a basket is made, a point is scored.

The game continues with the #2 players now taking the #1 players' positions. When three baskets are made, the teams switch.
